Police Chiefs Say Scrutiny Over Videos Has Radically Changed Their Work

“Before the August 2014 fatal police shooting in Ferguson, Mo., of Michael Brown, an unarmed African-American teenager, the effectiveness of most police chiefs was determined largely by crime rates and response times to 911 calls.

Now, chiefs say that cultivating better community relations — including everything from curtailing police shootings and eliminating racial profiling to requiring officers to be more polite and professional — has become as important a gauge of success as crime reduction, even though such work does not always easily lend itself to being measured.

“Police chiefs definitely have a shorter shelf life post-Ferguson, and they are more scrutinized and criticized for things they weren’t held responsible for before,” said Charles McClelland, Houston’s police chief, who said he agreed with the change in focus. “Pre-Ferguson, you were held responsible only for the crime rate — now it is community relations. One egregious act of misconduct by a police officer can get a police chief fired. It wasn’t like that before.”

As if in acknowledgment of the changed atmosphere, the authorities in San Bernardino, Calif., made officers quickly available to the news media after the department’s quick response to the terrorist shooting there last week, which killed 14 people.

The job of police chief has changed partly because of the dramatic reduction in violent crime since the 1990s, which, especially after the Ferguson shooting, has led the public to demand that departments shift their focus to police accountability.

“Since crime has been so low for so long, there are very high expectations in terms of what people expect of police chiefs,” said Inimai M. Chettiar, the director of the justice program at the Brennan Center for Justice, a nonpartisan public policy institute affiliated with the New York University School of Law. “Not only are they expected to keep down crime, but now they are expected to treat people with courtesy. That is new.”

“If the federal government doesn’t want the 47,000 people on its No-Fly List to board airplanes, those individuals should be banned from ever owning guns, President Obama argued in his Sunday address from the Oval Office – but if his proposal ever becomes law, America could see U.S. Marines, congressmen, journalists and even federal air marshals mistakenly stripped of their firearms.

“To begin with, Congress should act to make sure no one on a No-Fly List is able to buy a gun,” Obama said Dec. 6. “What could possibly be the argument for allowing a terrorist suspect to but a semi-automatic weapon? This is a matter of national security.”

But while San Bernardino, California, terrorist Syed Rizwan Farook managed to fly to Pakistan and Saudi Arabia under the radar of federal authorities in 2014, thousands of innocent people have been mistakenly linked to U.S. terror watchlists. Some experts and critics contend the federal list process contains many errors and relies on an overly broad standard of reasonable suspicion.

‘No guns’ for congressmen, Marines and feds?

Under Obama’s standard, even the late-Sen. Ted Kennedy, an ardent advocate of gun control while he served in Congress, would be blocked from purchasing a firearm.

In March 2004, Kennedy was stopped three times at airports in Washington, D.C., and Boston. Airline agents told the senator he couldn’t purchase a ticket because his name was on a list, according to USA Today.”

A woman scorned

I am not going to name names, but this is a true story and happened very recently. The couple in question have been married for close to 20 Yrs. and have been together since childhood.

The man in the relationship decides that he has had enough of family life and the wife and decides to tell her to pretty much fuck off and die, along with the kids who are around 18.

Now here comes the problem. After knowing someone that long and then screwing them over, should you really use their tablet to log into your email?

Short answer no, especially if your email is full of men seeking men ads and videos of you jacking off while fantasizing out loud about giving messy bl@w jobs.

Seriously, this is from friends of friends this past weekend. She found out that he was having men come over while she was at her high dollar job and doing the nasty. After she hacked his email she changed the password and locked him out so he can’t delete anything

Now the soon to be ex wife has these videos and is showing them to anyone who will watch. Anyone who won’t watch she will let them listen to the audio because the person n question has a very distinct voice and southern drawl.

And it gets worse (Or better depending on who you are)

She is going around to the local bars and randomly showing the vids and his picture to patrons and bartenders

And yes he has now threatened to kill her, but she is packing heat and about as ready for a confrontation as a women can be

72 DHS employees on terrorist watch list

“At least 72 employees at the Department of Homeland Security are listed on the U.S. terrorist watch list, according to a Democratic lawmaker.

Rep. Stephen Lynch (D., Mass.) disclosed that a congressional investigation recently found that at least 72 people working at DHS also “were on the terrorist watch list.”

“Back in August, we did an investigation—the inspector general did—of the Department of Homeland Security, and they had 72 individuals that were on the terrorist watch list that were actually working at the Department of Homeland Security,” Lynch told Boston Public Radio.

“The [former DHS] director had to resign because of that,” he said.

DHS continues to fail inspections aimed at determining the efficiency of its internal safety mechanisms, as well as its efforts to protect the nation.”

Video from the restaurant’s surveillance cameras shows startled diners spinning around in their chairs. Police instructed them to remain seated and place their hands on the tables while they forced open doors with battering rams.

“I offered them the keys,” said the restaurant’s indignant owner, Ivan Agac. “They didn’t even answer me.”

After searching the premises for about half an hour, the officers thanked Agac and left, he said. Local officials confirmed that nothing untoward had been found.

Such seemingly heavy-handed police operations have been drawing attention in France after 130 people were killed in shooting and bombing attacks in Paris, prompting the introduction of a rash of security measures.”

The efforts to restrict protests — as world leaders arrived to reach an international deal to contain global warming — were not entirely successful; 174 people were taken into custody on Sunday after demonstrators clashed with the police in the historic Place de la République.

The police, in full riot gear, used tear gas and pepper spray to disperse the demonstrators, some of whom grabbed flowers and other remembrances that had been left at a tribute to the 130 people killed in the attacks and hurled them at officers. Some demonstrators chanted: “State of emergency, police state. You can’t take away our right to demonstrate!”

Now we’ve stepped in it: Turkey shoots down Russian fighter jet

“The Turkish military has reportedly shot down a Russian military aircraft on the border with Syria.

Russia’s defence ministry said an Su-24 had crashed on Syrian territory after being hit by fire from the ground.

But Turkish military officials said Turkish F-16s had shot down the plane after repeatedly warning its two crew they were violating Turkish airspace.

The crew ejected before the jet crashed in Latakia province, but Syrian rebels said at least one was dead.”

“Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described the incident as “very serious”, but cautioned that it was too early to draw conclusions.

The Nato military alliance, to which Turkey belongs, said it was following the situation “closely” and was in contact with the Turkish authorities. There will be an “informational meeting” of ambassadors in Brussels at 16:00 GMT.”

Over 1/4 of Americans believe that goverment is the enemy

WASHINGTON (CBSDC)– “More than 1 in 4 Americans believe that the government is the enemy, according to a new poll.

Pew Research Center found that 27 percent of registered voters say they think of government as an enemy, up 8 points since 1996. The latest poll looked at general public opinion regarding the federal government.”

“More than a third (35 percent) of Republicans believe the federal government is the enemy, while 34 percent of Independents believe the same. The poll found that half of all Democrats (50 percent) view the government as a friend and only 12 percent see it as the enemy.”

“The majority of Americans feel the federal government has room for serious improvement, with 59 percent saying the government needs “very major reform.” Only 37 percent of voters felt that way in 1997.”

“COMMERCE CITY — In a surprise twist, a Commerce City police officer who said he was shot last weekend has been arrested and charged with a felony.

Officer Kevin Lord is being charged with attempting to influence a public official, District Attorney Dave Young said at a news conference Friday night.

Officials said Lord was arrested at 8:15 p.m. Friday and had turned in his service weapon.

Just a day earlier, Commerce City, state and federal officials announced a $20,000 reward for information in Lord’s shooting.”

“At the time on the initial report, police said Lord was shot when he approached a stopped Nissan Pathfinder about 7:10 a.m. Sunday. His ballistic vest stopped the bullet and his injuries were not life-threatening, officials said.

Lord gave a description of the man he said shot him and also gave a possible license plate number.

He described the shooter as a white man in his late 40s or early 50s with a thin build and brown hair. Police released a drawing of a probable suspect.

“There is no armed gunman on the loose this night,” Smith said. “No police officers are in danger.”

“In what appears to be a first for a serious presidential contender, Hillary Clinton’s campaign is going after five comedians who made fun of the former Secretary of State in standup skits at a popular Hollywood comedy club.

A video of the short performance, which is less than three minutes, is posted on the website of the renowned club, Laugh Factory, and the Clinton campaign has tried to censor it. Besides demanding that the video be taken down, the Clinton campaign has demanded the personal contact information of the performers that appear in the recording. This is no laughing matter for club owner Jamie Masada, a comedy guru who opened Laugh Factory more than three decades ago and has been instrumental in launching the careers of many famous comics. “They threatened me,” Masada told Judicial Watch. “I have received complains before but never a call like this, threatening to put me out of business if I don’t cut the video.”

Practically all of the country’s most acclaimed comedians have performed at the Laugh Factory and undoubtedly they have offended politicians and other well-known personalities with their standup routines. Tim Allen, Jay Leno, Roseanne Bar, Drew Carey, George Carlin, Jim Carrey, Martin Lawrence, Jerry Seinfeld and George Lopez are among the big names that have headlined at the Laugh Factory. Among those radicalized people, according to authorities, was Alaa Saadeh – the 23-year-old West New York, New Jersey man arrested Monday. He was believed to be part of a group interested in detonating a pressure cooker bomb at a New York landmark.”

“It doesn’t matter how much money you make, what politics you subscribe to, or what God you worship: we are all potential suspects, terrorists and lawbreakers in the eyes of the government.

In other words, if and when this nation falls to tyranny, we will all suffer the same fate: we will fall together. However, if it is possible to avert such an outcome, it will rest in us remembering that we are also all descendants of those early American revolutionaries who pushed back against the abuses of the British government. These people were neither career politicians nor government bureaucrats. Instead, they were mechanics, merchants, artisans and the like—ordinary people groaning under the weight of Britain’s oppressive rule—who, having reached a breaking point, had decided that enough was enough.

The colonists’ treatment at the hands of the British was not much different from the abuses meted out to the American people today: they too were taxed on everything from food to labor without any real say in the matter, in addition to which they had their homes invaded by armed government agents, their property seized and searched, their families terrorized, their communications, associations and activities monitored, and their attempts to defend themselves and challenge the government’s abuses dismissed as belligerence, treachery, and sedition.

But as historian Pauline Maier notes, the Boston Tea Party was a last resort for a group of people who had stated their peaceful demands but were rebuffed by the British: “The tea resistance constituted a model of justified forceful resistance upon traditional criteria.”

The rest, as they say, is history. Yet it’s a history we cannot afford to forget or allow to be rewritten.

The colonists suffered under the weight of countless tyrannies before they finally were emboldened to stand their ground. They attempted to reason with the British crown, to plea their cause, even to negotiate. It was only when these means proved futile that they resorted to outright resistance, civil disobedience and eventually rebellion.

More than 200 years later, we are once again suffering under a long train of abuses and usurpations. What Americans today must decide is how committed they are to the cause of freedom and how far they’re willing to go to restore what has been lost.

Nat Hentoff, one of my dearest friends and a formidable champion of the Constitution, has long advocated for the resurgence of grassroots activism. As Nat noted:

Obama Declares War On “Extremism” – Are You An “Extremist”?

On diminished liberty

It is amazing how far the perception of liberty in our nation has been distorted. I had a few thoughts about it the other day and it really reinforced my thoughts that there is no possibility whatsoever of ever voting our way out of this mess. I stumbled out of bed Saturday morning, shuffled off to get a cup of coffee and as I sat down, the first thing I thought of was liberty and it’s rightful application.

Yeah, I am that guy; I just can’t turn this shit off. It isn’t because of something that happened that I get all wound up and get my panties in a wad. Liberty isn’t an event, it is a continuum and its presence or lack there of is a constant. It is a state that we exist in no matter what else may be happening around us.

So anyway, I am about to put a cup of coffee to my lips and I think to myself  “What would the founders, or for that fact, anyone born to that generation, think if they were told that they could not ride their horse down the street without first obtaining a license ?”

That is when it dawned on me how far our liberty and our perception of it was distorted from its original inception. I knew what the answer to the question was before I even finished thinking it. These men had just fought, bled, died and survived for the sake of rightful liberty. They had just instituted a system that would insure the individual liberty of Americans; just thrown off the chains of tyranny.

That tyranny was a system that taxed, tolled, papered, regulated and controlled all those who were under it. A system that required the subjects to carry papers at all times so they could be investigated at a whim as to what their business was.

So, where are we in this whole scheme of things? Let me say it without  bringing in such obvious things such as the TSA, DHS, FBI and the other multi- letter agencies. I will leave those out and simply deal with our distorted perception of freedom and liberty on a more basic level.

We abide daily what would have brought open rebellion and revolution in former generations.  We have been so conditioned to conform to our lack of liberty that we barely notice its absence. At age 15 we are eagerly awaiting the chance to be taxed, regulated, licensed and allowed by the state to drive. We have been told by our parents, our schools and our society that this is how it works and we blindly accept it. Driving is not a right, it is a privilege granted to you by the state that can be revoked at any time.

Also, while you are in the act of driving your normally allotted rights are at diminished capacity. There is a different bar set for search and seizure of both your vehicle and person.  Any time that you are stopped you may be asked to exit your vehicle, get handcuffed and patted down for weapons before the traffic stop continues.

And all of this is done in the name of safety. From the pat down, to the licensing , it is all ostensibly done for the safety of others.  Just imagine if people were allowed to travel willy-nilly wherever they wanted without the state making sure that they were licensed. Oh, the horror!

But in this system that is set up for the “Safety” of all, the individual liberty designed into the system at its inception has vanished. It is so far gone that most of us never even notice it. I know that at the moment a lot of people are aware of what is happening, but they are not looking at the most basic precept of the loss.

Our liberty was lost generations before we were born and we, as did our fathers, and grandfathers, just accepted it as the status quo. Most of us never questioned it until it got so far out of hand that it could not ignored any longer. But it isn’t the current situation that is at the heart of the matter. It is what we used to accept as liberty in our distorted perception of freedom.

A return to that state from the current tyranny is not acceptable; Not now that most of us now view it through a clearer lens. A return to lesser tyranny is not the answer if we intend to exist in a state of rightful liberty as our nation was designed. Does anyone actually think that no matter who runs for what, that there is any chance of actually voting true liberty back into our nation? Probably not.

The serfdom of the American people has been so institutionalized on so many levels, that there is no chance that anything other than fundamental structural change will be able to restore liberty in its actual form.

How can that be accomplished? Well, I don’t believe that it can happen without some type of event that spurs it. I don’t think that in our status quo driven society that we, as a people, will ever rise up in arms to recapture our stolen freedom. I think that it would take something on the scale of total economic collapse to put people in the position to they realize that can seize back heir liberty.

I think that on a wide enough scale the powers that be, would be so diminished, that people capable, willing, organized and able , would be able to have a foothold in establishing a free society.

The most important part of the whole equation is going to be the ability to recognize the event and have the fortitude to seize the opportunity when it presents itself. Remember, worse is better.

Intimidate. Control.”

Anyone who rode the bus in Houston, Texas during the 2-10pm shift last Friday faced random bag checks and sweeps by both drug-sniffing dogs and bomb-sniffing dogs (the latter being only canines necessary if “preventing terrorism” were the actual intent of these raids), all courtesy of a joint effort between TSA VIPR nests and three different local and county-level police departments. The new Napolitano doctrine, then: “Show us your papers, show us everything you’ve got, justify yourself or you’re not allowed to go about your everyday business.”

Leading the way in the police state takeover is Tennessee, as Forbes reports:

 In October Tennessee became the first state to conduct a statewide Department of Homeland Security Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response (VIPR) team operation which randomly inspected Tennessee truck drivers and cars.”

Manning a TSA checkpoint should be made the most dangerous job in America. I am sure it will not happen though. Most people are content to submit and allow the shackles to be forged around their ankles.

Not me. I will continue my personal quest to consume as much liberty as I possibly can. Some fool cop will probably shoot me down someday for my “Dangerous actions” but if that is what it will be, then so be it.

The last time I encountered the police they stated in their report “He disobeyed our commands and walked towards us any which way that he pleased”.

Wow! My lawyer kept telling I was lucky I didn’t get shot. They told me to lift my shirt and turn around, which I did. Then they told me to put my hands behind my head and walk backwards towards them.

That I didn’t do. My hands were up and they knew that I was unarmed. I walked towards them ” Any which way I pleased” (Although I considered it a saunter).

This is the America that we live in and allow.

Later, the charges were dropped and they let the most dangerous man in America back onto the streets.

I was watching Glenn Beck last night and he had the above picture up on the screen. He asked the question “Is this who we are?” Of course his answer was no, as he is trying to keep as much distance between himself and potential violence as possible.

My answer was an immediate “You’re damned right that’s who we are.”

We are not a nation of peaceniks no matter how many pinch faced liberals claim that we are. We are a nation born of revolution. We are boiled down from the genetic stock of the misfits of Europe; the people who would not bow down or submit and risk fortune, life and family to be free.

Americans always have been, and hopefully always will be, different from Europeans. Instead of submission to religious or royal tyranny our ancestors chose harsh and dangerous freedom. When that tyranny reached across the ocean we chose revolution, a dangerous and deadly gambit.

Yes, that is who we are. We are still the same people that gave you the Boston tea party and the whiskey rebellion. It is not in our nature to submit to tyranny whether imposed by King George or George Washington. The genes may have been watered down some over time, but they still remain in many us.

There is a reason that the U.S. military is the most potent fighting force on the planet and it is not all superior weaponry. When we went to war in Afghanistan and Iraq the Jihadis jumped for joy. They couldn’t wait for the opportunity to meet fat, soft Americans and hand our asses to us on a platter; I think we all know how that went for them.

And now we are faced with hard American choices and must ask ourselves who we truly are. I know that my ancestors came over here in in 1747 and fought in the revolutionary war on the side of the rebels. My great grandfather X 6 and his brother, served with meritorious distinction and were awarded 50,000 acres of land in Georgia.

Yes, I know who I am. My ancestors have been shot, hung and imprisoned in every insurrection in Ireland. I come from a long line of careless rebels who put cause and duty before safety and security.

I can’t answer for everybody Mr. Beck, but I can answer for myself. ” You’re damned right that’s who I am”

House Committee Demands Answers on Truthy Project

“The Truthy project, being conducted by researchers at Indiana University, is under investigation for targeting political commentary on Twitter. The project monitors “suspicious memes,” “false and misleading ideas,” and “hate speech,” with a goal of one day being able to automatically detect false rumors on the social media platform.”

“The Committee and taxpayers deserve to know how NSF decided to award a large grant for a project that proposed to develop standards for online political speech and to apply those standards through development of a website that targeted conservative political comments,” wrote Chairman Lamar Smith (R., Texas) in a letter to NSF Director France Cordova.

“While some have argued that Truthy could be used to better understand things like disaster communication or to assist law enforcement, instead it appears Truthy focused on examples of ‘false and misleading ideas, hate speech, and subversive propaganda’ communicated by conservative groups,” he said.

No, this is not 1984 or some other sci-fi book predicting a far flung dystopian future. This is not Russia or communist controlled East Germany, this is America in the here and now. This is the land of the free, a republic by and for the people, designed for individual liberty. (I have to be brief today as my finger is giving me hell. If I drop off in mid thought, that is why)

This is now the America that we live in, a nation subjugated by an all powerful Federal government. We have been conquered, bested on the field of battle, without a shot being fired. We actually support our enemy and fund the weapons that are used against us by diligently paying our taxes.

How did this happen? How did we get this far?

I think that I have the answer and it is not pretty.

We have mis-identified the enemy. We look for the all powerful, dark leviathan, to do battle with when in fact, it doesn’t exist; it is just an idea. There are many among us, myself included, who would fight, right here, right now if an enemy were present.

But there isn’t.

What are you going to do? Blow up a Federal building? Mcveigh tried that and proved that it’s pointless, it is just a building, not an arm of the enemy. Most of the people in there have no connection to anything and are simply victims.

So where is the enemy? Again, it is just an idea, a belief, just as freedom is.  The enemy is composed of believers. It isn’t the Fed who is the enemy, but rather all of those who believe in it; those who will follow it, fight for it and in the end, vote for it.

Ready for some hate speech and false and misleading ideas? Well here we go.

We have gone past politics here and we now have two diametrically opposed ideologies that cannot co-exist together. One is the ideology of freedom that believes that each individual is free and is endowed with natural rights. The other wants to take that freedom and be in control of it, dictating what you can and can’t do and believes that those rights are granted by the largesse of the rulers.

In short, anyone who believes in what the fed is doing is the enemy; it is that belief that allows it. Yes, this is brother on brother in the ugliest way. Progressives are the enemy, democrats are the enemy, republicans,libertarians, anyone who believes that you should not have freedom is the enemy.

It is not the political parties, but the people who vote for them and support them. We got here because we didn’t recognize the enemy. We got here because we were civil and we allowed people to have opposing ideas; ideas that were against our own freedom. We allowed these ideas in our schools, our colleges, our forums and eventually our government.

Now these ideas have flesh and blood and have become tangible in the form of Federal tyranny.  And as if that were not enough, there are those that are calling to hand more power over, hand over more control. These people, these believers are the ones responsible for where we are today.

They are your enemy. They are not your countrymen, your brothers, your neighbors; they are enemies of freedom and seek to take your liberty. The time for being civil has passed. The time for acting like what they believe in doesn’t effect you has passed. They are the ones who are responsible for this and it is time to start acting like it. Looking for the enemy? You don’t have to look far.

Say what??

“To those of you who voted, I hear you,” Obama said in his first public remarks since the election. To those who didn’t vote, “I hear you too.”

And just what the hell does that mean? Is his over inflated ego taking that as a mandate for him to do what he wants? He did say it right after talking about how many people turned out to vote for him.

In his delusion, is he saying that the 2/3 who didn’t vote are on his side and outnumber the paltry 1/3 who turned out?

Doesn’t he realize that people are withdrawing from the system because it has become nothing but a sham and we will not validate it by participating?

Did he hear me? I submitted a blank ballot with crooks, liars and 1776 written across it in large letters. Did he hear my wife? She did the same, writing commentaries on each candidate and scrawled REVOLUTION across it.

I doubt if he did. I think that he “Hears” what he wants concerning the no voters and thinks it revolves around him and his popularity. If this is going where I think it is going, then he will start hearing me and a chorus of others… Soon.
