AG Lynch Testifies: Justice Dept. Has ‘Discussed’ Civil Legal Action Against Climate Change Deniers

“Attorney General Loretta Lynch testified Wednesday that the Justice Department has “discussed” taking civil legal action against the fossil fuel industry for “denying” the “threat of carbon emissions” when it comes to climate change

During Lynch’s testimony at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) said that he believes there are similarities between the tobacco industry denying scientific studies showing the dangers of using tobacco and companies within the fossil fuel industry denying studies allegedly showing the threat of carbon emissions.

He went on to point out that under President Bill Clinton, the Justice Department brought and won a civil case against the tobacco industry, while the Obama administration has “done nothing” so far with regard to the fossil fuel industry”

They are just not going to stop

They have been after the prize for over 100 Yrs. and now the brass ring is in reach

I don’t think that they are going to accept being removed from power

If things start to look bad for the Hildabeast I think we are going to be looking at an entirely different game

Miami nuke plant leaking

“What is arguably America’s least-well-placed nuclear power plant is leaking radiation into the sea.

The University of Miami has found
that the Turkey Point Nuclear Power Plant, located just south of Miami,
has caused levels of tritium, a radioactive isotope, in Biscayne Bay to
spike to 200-times higher than normal levels.

“This is one of several things we were very worried about,” South
Miami Mayor Philip Stoddard, who is also a biological sciences professor
at Florida International University, told the Miami New Times.
“You would have to work hard to find a worse place to put a nuclear
plant, right between two national parks and subject to hurricanes and
storm surge.”

Turkey Point came online in the early 1970s; it supplies power to
more than one million homes in South Florida. The new study blames the
leaks on the reactor’s cooling canals, which were recently found to have
caused a massive underground saltwater plume to migrate west,
threatening a wellfield that supplies drinking water to the Florida
Keys.

Critics alleged the canals began running too hot and salty after
Florida Power and Light (FPL), which operates the plant, overhauled two
reactors to produce more power, the Miami Herald reports. A judge already recently found that FPL had failed to prevent hundreds of thousands of gallons of wastewater from seeping into the bay.”

Best quote of the day

This is from the comment section on an article about Hillary stating that instead of building walls we need to build “Ladders of empowerment”

My first thought was  “WTF” is a ladder of empowerment?

And then I came across this gem below from a commenter called professor Hale:

“Ladders of empowerment… made from recycled boxes of empty promises, backed by hypothetical and illogical rules of economics, and in total defiance of quaint customs like “separation of powers”, and “constitutional limits”.

Yeah, it doesn’t get any better than that

Go fuck yourself Hillary…..

To serve:Louisiana DEA Agent Arrested For Dealing Drugs

For the second time in less than a month a Tangipahoa Sheriff’s Deputy has been arrested on charges of selling drugs. This time the officer involved was on the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration task force.

Authorities alleged that Deputy Karl Newman was stealing and then selling drugs that were seized in raids. State Police spokesman Doug Cain told the Louisiana Radio Network.

State Police received information that a law enforcement officer may be involved in the distribution of marijuana on the north shore.

Information obtained in that tip led authorities to arrest Newman on charges of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and abuse of office.  Newman’s arrest comes just weeks after another Tangipahoa lawman Johnny Domingue was booked on drug distribution charges.

Man , I can’t remember the last time I had this much fun with an election

Being outside of the political process and not giving a crap really is a lot less stressful

Judge orders Clinton aides to be questioned under oath about e-mails

Hillary For Prison 2016 Car Magnet 10 x 3

“A federal judge ruled on Tuesday that U.S. State Department officials and aides to Hillary Clinton should be questioned under oath about whether the former secretary of state’s use of a private email system was an effort to skirt open records laws.

The ruling by U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan is likely to add to the uncertainty hovering over Clinton, the front-runner for the Democratic nomination for the November U.S. presidential election, about the legal consequences of her decision to exclusively use a private email server in her New York home for her government work.

The State Department and Judicial Watch, the conservative watchdog group that sought the depositions as it sues for records about the employment of a senior Clinton aide, must agree on a plan for the depositions by April, Sullivan said in his order on Tuesday, according to court documents.”

We have Donald trump being, well, just being Trump

We have another candidate that is under investigation by the FBI

Another candidate who it is doubtful will stand up to the “Natural born citizen” test

Now you know why Kasich is hanging on for dear life

All we have to do is find out that Marco was born in Cuba and he is in

Susan Sarandon: “I don’t vote with my vagina”

“I don’t vote with my vagina,” the 69-year-old Thelma and Louise star tweeted. “It’s so insulting to women to think that you would follow a candidate JUST because she’s a woman.”

Shots fired outside of Sheriffs house, Sheriff blames Beyonce

“MURFREESBORO — Other than being the sheriff and a member of law enforcement, Rutherford County Sheriff Robert Arnold doesn’t know the motive for shots fired outside his Osborne Lane home Monday night.

“We all know, as soon as you put your uniform on, you’re a target,” he said at a news conference Tuesday morning at the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office. “You make people mad when you’re just doing your job.”

Arnold said when he first heard the shots, he wondered if they were inspired by the Super Bowl halftime show.

When asked to clarify that comment, he added, “You know, Beyonce’s video.”

““We all know, as soon as you put your uniform on, you’re a target,” he said at a news conference Tuesday ”

You know, right there is the problem

All these cops are being trained that everyone is the enemy

Everyone they encounter could be the one that makes sure they don’t go home safe that night

Do you want to know the truth?

Being a bartender is more dangerous than being a cop

The whole war on LEO is a manufactured myth

“Despite what the media would have you believe, 2015 is actually the safest year for police officers in 20 years. Meanwhile, police killings of citizens are at a 40-year high.

While citizens and social justice groups seeking to curtail the trend of growing police brutality and state-sanctioned murder, police supporters around the country are seeking to debunk these reports with a combination of marketing, cherry-picked statistics, and misplaced nationalism formerly reserved for members of the military.

The following graphics combined show how serious the problem of growing police violence has become, and explain the false-narrative that has been constructed to convince America to ignore the problem”

“With the rise in the reports of people being killed by police, much has been made of the danger police face every day in the line of duty. It has become the easy explanation in an attempt to justify the erosion of civil rights in the name of job safety for those who “protect and serve.” But a recent report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that last year almost 4,600 Americans were killed while working, but only 79 were police officers. That figure places police officers outside of the top 15 most dangerous jobs in America, behind garbage collectors, taxi drivers, and bartenders.”

Yeah, dude every time you suit up you have a target on you

Maybe they hould take a look at what this Sheriff has been up to

Brown beast

This is Jackson  my brown beast

And photographing him at lunch was a total fail

He is a Scott type performance standard bulldog

I took him outside to try and get some pics but the damn dog is so fast that all I got were leg and tail, body shots and ass shots

He never stops moving so I was forced to take him in and make him sit

So if you want to see what my dog looks you have to rotate the picture on the left and put it on the body on the right

After my wife losing her son this guy was the best medicine to be had

He is probably the smartest dog I have ever had and he is a complete goof ball

Pick something up he is not familiar with and he will jump 4 Ft. sideways

Poke at him with it and he comes at you with ferocious mock vicious

I mean seriously vicious, if you didn’t know him you would think he was about to attack

Snarling, barking and full blown pearly whites

Then all you have to do is lean over a little and say “Kisses”

Next week I will get a vid of him attacking the camera it’s pretty freaking amusing

Russia warns of ‘new world war’

“Russia warned of “a new world war” starting in Syria on Thursday after a dramatic day in which Gulf states threatened to send in ground forces.

Foreign and defence ministers of the leading international states backing different factions in the war-torn country met in separate meetings in Munich and Brussels following the collapse of the latest round of peace talks.

Both Russia and the United States demanded ceasefires in the long-running civil war so that the fight could be concentrated against Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil) – but each on their own, conflicting terms.”

“But the Gulf states, led by Saudi Arabia, staged their own intervention, saying they were committed to sending ground troops to the country. Their favoured rebel groups have been pulverised by Russian air raids and driven back on the ground by Iranian-supplied pro-regime troops. ”

“They said their declared target was Isil. But the presence of troops from Gulf states which have funded the Syrian rebels would be taken as a hostile act by the Assad regime and its backers, and a sign that they were committed to staking their claim to a say in the final Syrian settlement.

Russia issued a stark warning of the potential consequences. “The Americans and our Arab partners must think well: do they want a permanent war?”

We are not already in a world war ?

Here is a list from 2012 of Muslim insugencies

Bear in mind that the list is considerably larger now, but I am on a time budget and couldn’t find a current comprehensive one

Syria
Mali
Yemen
Somalia
Iraq
Pakistan
Southern Philippines
Sudan
Kenya
Uganda
Algeria
Egypt
Iran
Israel/Palestine
Southern Thailand
West Turkestan
Chechnya
Ingushetia
Uzbekistan
Krygystan
Indonesia
Kurdistan/Turkey
Northern India

The only difference now is that Russia is starting to participate

Image
I know that as of 2015 almost everyone of those green shaded areas had insurgencies going on.
Some that I know offhand that are not on the list are Indonesia, Central African republic, Cameroon,Chad,Nigeria and Spain.
Does that sound like a world war to you?
The fuse is already lit on World war III
The only question left is how big the explosion is going to be

Intelligence agency to use home smart devices for spying

“The US intelligence chief has acknowledged for the first time that agencies might use a new generation of smart household devices to increase their surveillance capabilities.

As increasing numbers of devices connect to the internet and to one another, the so-called internet of things promises consumers increased convenience – the remotely operated thermostat from Google-owned Nest is a leading example. But as home computing migrates away from the laptop, the tablet and the smartphone, experts warn that the security features on the coming wave of automobiles, dishwashers and alarm systems lag far behind.

In an appearance at a Washington think tank last month, the director of the National Security Agency, Adm Michael Rogers, said that it was time to consider making the home devices “more defensible”, but did not address the opportunities that increased numbers and even categories of connected devices provide to his surveillance agency.

However, James Clapper, the US director of national intelligence, was more direct in testimony submitted to the Senate on Tuesday as part of an assessment of threats facing the United States.

“In the future, intelligence services might use the [internet of things] for identification, surveillance, monitoring, location tracking, and targeting for recruitment, or to gain access to networks or user credentials,” Clapper said.

Clapper did not specifically name any intelligence agency as involved in household-device surveillance. But security experts examining the internet of things take as a given that the US and other surveillance services will intercept the signals the newly networked devices emit, much as they do with those from cellphones. Amateurs are already interested in easily compromised hardware; computer programmer John Matherly’s search engine Shodan indexes thousands of completely unsecured web-connected devices.”

Right, so I am paranoid because I have a GPS blocker on my car and tape over the camera on my desktop monitor camera.

Seriously, where is the end all to this leviathan?

Think JEB can fix it? Or Cruz? Or Trump?

Not in our lifetime will we ever see our republic restored to it’s original intent

Not when the bureaucracy just continues to add layer after layer of freedom robbing regulations

Obama administration perpetrates the biggest betrayal since the bay of pigs

Syrian rebels battled for their survival in and around Syria’s northern city of Aleppo on Thursday after a blitz of Russian airstrikes helped government loyalists sever a vital supply route and sent a new surge of refugees fleeing toward the border with Turkey.

The Russian-backed onslaught against rebel positions in Aleppo coincided with the failure of peace talks in Geneva, and helped reinforce opposition suspicions that Russia and its Syrian government allies are more interested in securing a military victory over the rebels than negotiating a settlement.”

“The loss of Aleppo, Syria’s largest city and the most significant urban center to fall, at least partially, under rebel control, would represent a potentially decisive blow to the nearly five-year-old rebellion against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. The rebels have maintained control of much of Aleppo since they surged into the city in 2012, prompting U.S. intelligence assessments that they eventually would topple the government in Damascus.”

“With the push around Aleppo, pro-government forces were able to break a rebel siege on two predominantly Shiite villages, Nubl and Zahra, which had been surrounded by rebel forces for the past three years and sustained only by government airdrops of food.

In its determination to see the peace talks get underway, the United States had pressured the rebels’ allies, including Turkey and Saudi Arabia, to curtail supplies of weapons, leaving the rebels vulnerable to the new offensive, according to rebel commanders.”

These are the very same rebels that we were training and supplying arms and munitions to

This is not ISIS, these are the original rebel forces that formed up to fight Assad and his brutal dictatorship

I only have one thing to say on the subject:

It’s a damn good thing that the Cuban rebels weren’t suicide bombers

Florida declares medical emerency in four counties due to Zika virus

“TAMPA — Gov. Rick Scott declared a health emergency in four counties Wednesday after at least nine cases of the mosquito-borne Zika illness were detected in Florida.

Health officials believe none of the cases originated in Florida. All involve people who contracted the disease while traveling to affected countries, they say.

Scott signed the order to cover Miami-Dade, Lee, Hillsborough and Santa Rosa counties. That’s where all of the cases were detected.

The order allows the state’s agriculture department to use mosquito spray more in those areas. It also directs the Florida Department of Health to make its own decisions about what’s needed from the state and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Zika virus, which is linked to a birth defect that causes brain deformities, primarily spreads through mosquito bites and rarely causes a severe illness in adults.”

It shoud be a great mosquito season here in Florida

I am in Central Florida and we have had virtually no winter with only one frost to date

It hit 88 in the house yesterday and we had to kick the AC on

Without a hard freeze the mosquito population is going to be through the roof

The take from Iowa

Well, the one thing we can take from Iowa is that no one anywhere wants Jeb Bush

Enough with the Bush’s

Someone asked me if I thought that Trump was a conservative

My answer was fairly simple

GWB was a conservative

He gave us medicare part D

No child left behind

TARP

A huge national debt

China most favored nation status

Two wars that destabilized the middle east and allowed the spread of Muslim insurgencies that now control half of the African continent

The economic collapse of 2008

And the list goes on

I don’t think it matters at this point what label Trump wears

As long as it is not Bush

Judge declares that death penalty does not exist in Florida

Pinellas judge rejects death penalty request after Supreme Court ruling

“In an order filed Friday, judge Michael Andrews rejected prosecutors’ notice that they intend to seek the death penalty in the case of a Pinellas Park father, Steven Dykes, accused of fatally shaking and striking his 3-month-old daughter in February of last year.

“This court concludes that there currently exists no death penalty in the State of Florida in that there is no procedure in place,” Andrews wrote.

The order is the first of its kind in the state following the Hurst vs. Florida decision on Jan. 12, said Pinellas-Pasco public defender Bob Dillinger.

In an 8-1 opinion, the Supreme Court found Florida’s death penalty procedures unconstitutional because juries play only an advisory role in recommending life or death. Judges make the ultimate decision after giving “great weight” to jurors’ recommendations.”

From the Tampa bay times, the whole story here :  http://www.tampabay.com/news/courts/criminal/pinellas-judge-rejects-death-penalty-request-following-scotus-ruling/2262761

Good for him and I hope they keep it that way

I am strongly anti death penalty

When they started DNA testing death row inmates it was incredible how many people were freed

In Illinois alone they had 13

That doesn’t sound like a lot except to the families of these people and they themselves

The system can be wrong and death is something that cannot be taken back

A dead person cannot ever be returned to his loved ones

I know, I am a real conundrum aren’t I ?
