      I was offshore at the BP site, ground zero, for months afterwards on clean up. Scooping up oil and deploying booms. They sprayed us every fucking night with chemical dispersants after they were told to stop. As a result I have not been able to properly breathe thru my nose since, being constantly in a clogged state. I also developed major skin problems shortly after working the spill. All lawsuits were dismissed by a judge. The USCG Commander in charge of the spill retired and went to work for BP. Yea, fuck them all. Tugboat skipper for 30 yrs.

        o’s admin threw obstacles in the way of every effort to avoid the spill’s shoreline breaches (LA, MS, AL, FL). Upon breaching, every effort was made to keep clean up out of the hands of private citizens who actually had equipment, knowledge and skills to begin a robust clean up. Stories. I have them.

        My nephew worked manual labor for gummint contractor to clean beaches in FL. and pays for it now.

        We brought no Gulf of America seafood into the house for over a year out of concern for the dispersants and oil contamination. This spill nearly destroyed the entire coast’s seafood industry in those states.

        I am sorry for your aftereffects from your immensely important work at that time, Skip. Thank you and God bless.
