Europe rushes to re-arm

Maybe if they had been spending on arms this whole time and not buying Rusky black gold, they wouldn’t be in this predicament right now

BRUSSELS — The European Union, an entity that casts itself as a peace and trade project, is in crisis talks Thursday focused on defense.

Along with the specter of a belligerent Moscow, President Donald Trump’s sudden redrawing of alliances and withdrawal of aid for Ukraine are driving Europeans to fast-track plans to bolster their militaries, upgrade their arsenals — and, ultimately, to curb their dependence on the United States.

“I want to believe the U.S. will stand by our side, but we have to be ready for that not to be the case,” French President Emmanuel Macron told his country in a speech Wednesday night. “The future of Europe must not be decided in Washington or Moscow.”

Among the E.U. leaders meeting in Brussels, there’s a rallying cry that Europe needs to embark on a military buildup in a way it hasn’t in decades.

  2. Remember when this crap with Ukraine started “will you sacrifice for Ukraine” began. Well I look at this as another implied/idol threat to America. If we don’t support the puppet dictator the Europeans won’t like us because we make their tyrants mad. They will beat starve and kill their own people This is a fine example to Americans “that absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

This is a dangerous game that they play. This will decimate what is left of the European race, opening the door for absolute control by the Muslims.

I never plan on stepping one foot in Europe and I sure as hell won’t pay for the whims of dictators.

Europe, you’re on your own, fight or perish.

  3. So what. Even if the money started flowing like water out of a hydrant today, it will take years before the “toys that make the noise” start coming out of the factory. And that assumes that the factory even exists.

Children and politicians (often the same thing) live under a delusion that throwing money at something instantly solves problems.

  5. Historically Europeans have not worked well together. I suspect we’ll see the same issues with this plan.
