Registration is now required for Illinois residents who own assault weapons

An endorsement affidavit is now available for Illinois residents who are required to register their assault weapons under a new ban signed into law by Gov. J.B. Pritzker this year.

The affidavit must be submitted by Jan. 1, 2024.

People in Illinois who possessed assault weapons, assault weapon attachments, .50-caliber rifles and .50-caliber cartridges before the law was passed must submit the affidavit, but large-capacity ammunition feeding devices don’t require one.

Guns won’t be confiscated as a result of the new law, but the registration affidavit is still required.

The Protect Illinois Communities Act took effect immediately when Pritzker signed the bill Jan. 10

  2. Wonder what the compliance rate will be. One must also wonder what the punishment for those who ignore this will be… versus the punishment they mete out for ACTUAL crimes.

  4. I am wondering what the people of Florida will do when they come for ours ? I know what I’m going to do. I will give nothing more to these tyrants. That includes renewing all insurances and driver licensees, all orders from these fucks. They are the enemy and will be treated accordingly. My attitude changed drastically when I found out how armed the quasi government was armed from the post office to the dept. of education, all funded by us the idiot taxpayers. Things are disintegrating pretty quick now. And to think it all started with the FOID card in that state.

  5. Remember, nothing in federal law prevents you from claiming you “sold” your registered gun out of state. There is no legal requirement for you to document this “sale”. And you cannot be forced to testify about the details of this sale.

It would, however be illegal to hide your weapon(s) in an anti-rust gun sock behind drywall in your basement or attic and claim you sold them out-of-state. That would be bad.
