If one lesson is to be learned from WWII, it is that quantity has a quality all its own. Russia just kept feeding men and material into the meat grinder until attrition and inability to resupply the front reduced German armies to ineffectiveness and forced the Germans either surrender, retreat or be annihilated.
That said, the Russians are now learning another lesson in Ukraine.
Modern defensive weapons have a quality all their own, even in semi-experienced hands. Example, Russia is reportedly now fielding T62’s from mothballs and museums to replace their lost T72’s and T80’s destroyed by Javelin antitank weapons and antitank mines.
