Biggest ever weekly rise in Ebola cases

US news and world report http://health.usnews.com/health-news/articles/2014/08/29/biggest-ever-weekly-rise-in-ebola-cases-un-agency-says

“FRIDAY, Aug. 29, 2014 (HealthDay News) — The West African Ebola outbreak took a more deadly turn Friday with the World Health Organization announcing an estimated 500 new cases this week — the biggest jump in infections so far.”
“Already the largest Ebola outbreak ever, the viral infection has produced 3,069 cases so far and killed 1,552 people in Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone, with Senegal now added to that list.

Nearly 40 percent of the total number of reported cases have occurred in the past three weeks, the health agency said.

“This far outstrips any historic Ebola outbreak in numbers. The largest outbreak in the past was about 400 cases,” Dr. Bruce Aylward, WHO’s assistant director-general for emergency operations, said at a news conference, the AP reported.”

This isn’t your grandfathers Ebola anymore. Something about this outbreak is different and they either don’t know what it is or aren’t they aren’t saying. Doctors and hospital staff wearing full protective gear are becoming infected. So far I haven’t seen a trend for it to be multiplying exponentially yet, like influenza, but they have admitted that the number of cases has been grossly underestimated.
Let’s hope it stays that way.

  1. THIS is where “they” are going with that. “Also Thursday, the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) said it would begin testing an experimental Ebola vaccine in humans next week. It will be tested in 20 healthy adults in Maryland to see if it’s safe and able to produce an appropriate immune system response.”
The WHO is part of UNITED FRICKIN NATION!
I will never – EVER – be one of their frickin gpigs!
Let’s get them to experiment on jihadist-in-chief’s two girls first? How about that?
On lighter note – I have reading material for the weekend. THANK YOU!

    • You are welcome and I am with you on the G pig. The first thing that Zero was after in 08 was h1n1 vaccinations. I will pass thank you. BTW, did I tell you how I smashed my hand? I was building an aviary in the back yard for mr. birdie pictured here.

  2. Lucky Mr. Birdie – not so lucky Jay. Blue? 🙂
I had cockatiels for many, many years. Strangest thing – one was dropped on my doorstep one year and after that – they would just fly into my yard and wait for me to pick them up and put them in the cage with others. Over the years I probably had eight, a couple were from Mr. Chirp and Mrs. Chirp’s mating. When Mr. Chirp (who outlived all but one) finally died we cried and buried him in the garden with kittens and dogs gone before. The one left – I gave to a woman with half a dozen huge aviary’s. Though my cage was very large – there was no real room for flying. I wanted him to FLY!
